Founded in 2000, the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is a universally accepted and an independent certification program for textile industries (mainly designed for apparel/textile and footwear industry). WRAP certification has become widely popular and has been implemented by many oagnisations worldwide.
This standard is dedicated to monitor and certify compliance with the WRAP Production Principles (Socially Responsible Global Production Standards) and ensure that manufacturing is being conducted efficiently under lawful, humane and ethical conditions. Designed to certify facilities and not brands or businesses, WRAP is not a membership organization.
Presently, this program is not limited to only textile industry but is expanding further for industries including hotels, jewelry, furniture, construction, food, home furnishing, cutlery, glassware, carpet / rugs, lamps and more.
WRAP has been supportedby 25 international trade associations including the International Apparel Federation which represents 36 national associations and over 150,000 individual companies.
The standard is a factory based certification program that has been divided into three categories: Platinum, Gold and Silver where:
Awarded to facilities demonstrating full compliance with WRAP's 12 Principles with 2 years validity.
Awarded to facilities demonstrating full compliance with WRAP's 12 Principles with 1 year validity.
Awarded to facilities demonstrating substantial compliance with WRAP's 12 Principles with 6 months validity but identifies minor non-compliances in policies, procedures, or training that must be addressed.
This three-level approach main objective is to award participating facilities with the appropriate level of recognition for their progress in achieving full compliance with the WRAP Production Principles over certain period of time.
