What is GHG ACCOUNTING & CARBON FOOTPRINTING?
Determining the Carbon Footprint is one of the obvious benefits for any organization to achieve and maintain its Corporate Sustainability. Intended to set or quantify Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions inventory in organizational level, the international standard ISO 14064-1 has been introduced.
ISO 14064 offers organizations with an integrated tool for programs to measure, quantify and reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) and achieve carbon neutrality.
ISO 14064:2018 certification or ISO 14064 IS an internationally accepted standard providing a comprehensive environmental strategy for organizations to participate in voluntary and regulated programs to offset their greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions. The most recent additions to the ISO 14000 series of International Standards for Environmental Management System is the ISO 14064 standard (published in 2006 and early 2007).
Parts of the Standard ISO 14064
ISO 14064-1:2018- Part 1
Specifying principles and requirements at the organization level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals.
ISO 14064-2:2019- Part 2
Defining principles and requirements and provides guidance at the project level for quantification, monitoring and reporting of activities intended to cause greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions or removal enhancements.
ISO 14064-3:2019- Part 3
Identifying principles and requirements and provides guidance for those conducting or managing the validation and/or verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) assertions. It can be applied to organizational or GHG project quantification, including GHG quantification, monitoring and reporting carried out in accordance with ISO 14064-1 or ISO 14064-2.
